The old city or in the language of common the Kashmiri, the Sheh-re-khaas or the Downtown, holds the threads which takes one back to the rich heritage. The beauty of the walk through the alleys is pleasing. The huge buildings standing tall, speaking the truth of the ages, the life lived or being lived there. The mornings are beautiful with the smoke from the local bread maker heading to the sky covering the distance from the common life to the beautiful rising sun. Unlike the corporate sectors the lanes here are buzzed up with the people buying the common daily necessities. The innocence of the people, the lines of the tolerance and the richness of the knowledge of the culture is too vivid. As the night settles, the Jehlum scintillates with the lights of the houseboats, the silence falls after a tiresome day and the hope stays.
