In Oct 2008, the train was started for the first time in the valley of Kashmir. The first train operated from Baramulla to Anantnag which was further extended to Qazigund and finally to Banihal in 2013. The Qazigund-Banihal stretch is connected by a 11 km Tunnel passing through the mighty Pir Panjal mountain range making it the longest Railway Tunnel in India.

The train spans across the north and southern parts of the Kashmir valley passing through fields and villages presenting a picturesque view. I travel frequently to my workplace and everytime I board the train, I sit by the window seat and enjoy the mountain ranges of Pir Panjal, the rice fields of South Kashmir, the women working in the fields, the children playing. Sometimes when I am not able to get a seat I stand by the door of the train and observe different people, from business class to labour class, I witness the the different categories of people. I always wanted to document these moments but somehow I was not able to take out time but today I finally spent the entire day to document the Journey I love to take.
